I have put my twenty years of experience and professional development in the area of exhibit design and installation to work for a variety of institutions and private clientele from Carmel California to Portland Oregon. From Art Museums, to History Museums, to Science Centers, I've been behind-the-scenes here, there, and everywhere.
In my current capacity at the Crocker Art Museum I direct the exhibition design and installation working with both the curatorial and education departments to create engaging museum experiences for visitors. It's an honor to work for an institution that places emphasis on visitor experience and education. It's also a lot of fun.
MuseumTrade.org (MT) is my side passion project. Others play tennis, go to movies, or do puzzles (which I love as well), but my hobby is MT. From learning Wordpress, to designing the site, to writing articles, to reaching out to contributors, to squashing bugs (ugh); this is what I do in my spare time. I love it and I hope you love what I've created as well.
MuseumTrade is dedicated to getting the job done in fresh and beautiful ways. It’s a cross disciplinary environment for those in the Museum Trade. From preparators, handlers, designers, technicians, educators, and even managers. For those who "get it done" you'll will find an ever expanding trove of actionable information. I hope you'll consider a visit to the site and perhaps a contribution as well. We need your tips, tricks, resources, successes, and yes, your failures to grow and flourish. Let's stop recreating the wheel and help each other out. Your ordinary is someone's epiphany.
I received my masters degree in Museum Studies with an emphasis in education and interpretation from John F. Kennedy University. While at JFK I was honored with the Helzel Leadership Award.
